Ecuador Oil Decree

In 2006, foreign oil companies complained when a decision was agreed upon that profits should be split 50-50 with any given state.c

While Correa believed revenues should be distributed more "justly," it was unclear how he thought a 99 percent profit was just and balanced. There are at least three major foreign oil companies that operate out of Ecuador, producing over 500,000 barrels of crude oil every day.c Those companies—Spain's Repsol, France's Perenco and Brazil's Petrobras—would suffer most.

With the decree, Ecuador would net over $830 million a year.c

Mayan Calendar

The Long Count division of the Mayan Calendar comes to an end on what experts believe corresponds to December 21 2012 in the Gregorian Calendar. This date would be the 13 Ahau in the Mayan Calendar. The Long Count's starting date is what Mayans believed was the creation of the world. Some Mayan researchers say the interpretation of the end of the world on 13 Ahau is inaccurate, instead the date signifies rebirth and the start of a new cycle.Mayan Calendar Site: The Mayan Calendar USA Today: Does Maya calendar predict 2012 apocalypse?
