Wordpress Templates

Themes determine the layout, background, fonts, and widgets found on your blog page. Layout concerns the number of columns presented (typically a sidebar on the left and the main posts on the right). The background is typically a combination of colors and patterns for different areas on the page including borders. There are a number of widgets that can be selected including Blog Stats, Links, Recent Posts, SocialVibes, Flickr, and Twitter.http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/

Finding the Theme Button

Click "My Dashboard" on the menu bar at the top of the page, Look on the sidebar (near the bottom) for "Appearance". Click on "Appearance" and a menu of choices pop-down with the first being "Themes".

Choosing a Theme

Click on Themes and the top of this page shows the "Default Theme" section (currently "2010"). Below the default them is the section for "Browse Themes" (over 90 in June 2010). You can also search for a theme or use a feature filter.

Changing a Theme

Choose the theme you like either by browsing, searching, or filtering. Then press either the "Preview" button or "Activate" button (if you are sure). When previewing a theme, you can either cancel the preview or activate the theme (button in upper right corner). The page How to Change Your Theme in Wordpress provides you with further directions.

The advanced blogger can alter the following from the Themes page: Widgets, Menus, Extras, Background, Header, Typekit Fonts ,Edit CSS
