The Warrior's Way Trailer
The theatrical trailer for The Warrior's Way opens by introducing viewers to Yang (Don-gun Jang), a ninja warrior feared and revered for his skills. The narrator explains that Yang "was a legend" throughout Asia, "born on the battlefield. An assassin so dangerous that no army could defeat him - until the day he refused his mission." Yang is shown being told that he must kill an infant, "the last of their clan." Yang finds he cannot complete this mission and as a result, he is forced to leave his homeland.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z8xYMomsDc
As the trailer continues, Yang travels to America, where he winds up in the west. There, Yang meets Lynne (Kate Bosworth), and several others living in a small town. Lynne tells Yang that he "is gonna fit right in with the rest of us outcasts." Yang warns Lynne that he needs to leave, "or you will all be in danger." Eventually, a large army of ninjas descend on the town, forcing Yang and his cohorts to fight for their lives.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z8xYMomsDc

Giant (1956 Film)
"Much of it is awful, but it's almost impossible not to be taken in by the narrative sprawl." - Dave Kehr, Chicago Readerhttp://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/giant/Film?oid=1074655
"Modern critics consider Giant to be a bloated, sprawling, and pretentious saga, but by the era's standards, it exposed idelogical cracks in the American dream, such as the myth of melting pot and women's anxiety over their allotted place in society." - Emmanuel Levy, EmmanuelLevy.comhttp://www.emanuellevy.com/search/details.cfm?id=351

The Warrior's Way
"I can’t help but be thrilled that a movie like this is about to be unleashed on the public. The clips near the end where everything becomes a western that was mashed-up with an Asian martial arts movie, the bullets and swords that are brandished, the orgy of violence that is unleashed before our eyes, it’s much too powerful for me to say that this looks completely terrible. I’m helpless against the juvenile inside of me and I will be trying my hardest to resist what looks like a movie that will be the fastest recorded film to go from theaters to the $5.00 DVD bin at Wal-Mart."—Christopher Stipp of Slash Filmhttp://www.slashfilm.com/this-week-in-trailers-the-warriors-way-carlos-the-college-town-cash-crop-4192-the-crowning-of-the-hit-king/
"What's missing, like a hole, is a visionary personality — think Stephen Chow or Johnnie To — who can turn comically violent Pop art on its head. Lee's hunger to flamboyantly distract with his bag of tricks is never in doubt, but "The Warrior's Way" is a dead end and too often plays like a requiem for showoffs."
—Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-warriors-way-20101204,0,666958.story
"Although it's more likely to be embraced by fanboys and film buffs than by mainstream audiences, "The Warrior's Way" is a visually inspired multi-genre amalgamation, a borderline-surreal folly that suggests a martial-arts action-adventure co-directed by Sergio Leone and Federico Fellini."—Joe Leydon of Variety http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117944150 ...

Shane (1953 Film)
"The direction is deliberate, but the attention to detail is impressive, and the perfromances of Jean Arthur, Alan Ladd, and Brandon De Wilde are so good and restrained that they overcome the social-mythical types they're playing." - Emmanuel Levy, EmmanuelLevy.comhttp://www.emanuellevy.com/search/details.cfm?id=4549
"Here, as too often in his career, Stevens is aiming to have the last word on a genre: everything aims for 'classic' status, and everything falters in a mire of artsiness and obtrusive technique." - Dave Kehr, Chicago Readerhttp://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/shane/Film?oid=1052563
