Carrie Prejean Engaged
During the Miss USA pageant in April 2009, pageant judge Perez Hilton asked Carrie Prejean, who was then Miss California, if she believed same-sex marriage should be legal. Prejean said that though "we live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage," she believes that "marriage should be between a man and a woman." Hilton, who is openly homosexual, ranted about Prejean on his blog the following day. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/2009/04/27/2009-04-27_carrie_prejean_says_she_was_asked_to_apologize_for_gay_marriage_comments_but_ref.html In June 2009, Prejean lost her Miss California crown over a breach of contract, failure to show up to mandatory events and over a series of modeling photos in which she appeared in lingerie. Prejean then sued the pageant claiming that she was discriminated against because of her beliefs. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2009/10/19/miss-california-organization-countersues-carrie-prejean/ In return, she was countersued and the pageant organizers sought to have Prejean pay back $5,200 that she used for breast implants. In November 2009, the case was settled privately. According to gossip reports, the reason Prejean settled was because a solo-sex tape had surfaced.http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/11/04/miss.california.usa.settlement/index.html

Woman Taken to Hospital from Tiger Woods Home
Tiger Woods' mother-in-law Barbro Holmberg was taken to the hospital from Woods' Windermere, Florida home on the morning of December 8, 2009. It has been reported that her daughter, Elin Nordegren, followed the ambulance to the hospital in a black Cadillac Escalade similar to the one Woods recently crashed. The Orlando Sentinel reported that Orange County Fire officials confirmed that a rescue call coming from Woods' home was received at 2:36 AM and that, initially, the patient refused to be taken to the hospital. Orlando's WESH TV had reported that the woman taken to the hospital was on advanced life support, but later reports indicate that Holmberg was released just hours after being hospitalized. Other reports say that she is in stable condition with stomach pains and possibly breathing problems. Holmberg, who lives in Sweden, had been visiting her daughter in the wake of Woods' recent car accident and the revelation of his extramarital affairs.http://www.tmz.com/2009/12/08/rescue-call-to-tiger-woods-block-911-elin-nordegren/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/08/woman-rushed-to-hospital-_0_n_383766.html

Rachel Uchitel Pictures
Before the November 27, 2009, Tiger Woods crash, the gossip tabloid The National Enquirer reported that Woods and Uchitel began an affair in June 2009. The Enquirers source was supposedly a "friend" of Uchitel's. After the crash, which was rumored to have happened after Woods argued with his wife Elin Nordegren over the affair rumors, Uchitel initially denied ever having an affair with Woods.http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/12112http://www.blackbookmag.com/article/industry-insider-peek-at-griffin/7524
On November 27, 2009, Uchitel told Blackbookmag.com: "I totally deny the Enquirer story. They did contact me about it, but they didn’t use any of my quotes or any of the information I gave them. They make it sound like I said those things, but it’s all other people saying I said things."http://www.blackbookmag.com/article/rachel-uchitel-speaks-i-dont-appreciate-my-name-being-dragged-through-the-m/13442
By December 10, 2009, Uchitel had given an exclusive interview to OK! magazine. On the same day, the New York Daily News released text messages Woods allegedly sent to Uchitel.http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/12/10/national/main5961619.shtml

Mistresses and alleged mistresses have played an unwitting role in American politics but the repercussions of extramarital affairs have varied. Some of these relationships have ruined careers, while others have had little effect.
- Maria Halpin: During his 1884 campaign for president, Grover Cleveland admitted to an extramarital affair and "love child" with shop clerk Halpin. Cleveland won, despite his opponents' attacks over the matter. Career impact: Minor
- Marilyn Monroe: Monroe is alleged to have been one of many women involved with John F. Kennedy before and during his presidency. These rumors were not widespread until well after Kennedy's 1963 assassination. Career impact: Minor
- Donna Rice: Colorado Senator Gary Hart's 1988 presidential aspirations were quashed after photos emerged of his tryst with 29-year-old model Rice on a yacht called "Monkey Business." Career impact: Major
- Monica Lewinsky: Although it became a national obsession, Bill Clinton's dalliances with 21-year-old intern Lewinsky in 1995 did not materially effect his political career. Clinton was formally impeached by Congress, but served out his second term. Career impact: Minor
- Judith Nathan: While serving as mayor of New York City in the late 1990s, Rudy Giuliani began an affair with Nathan, a pharmaceuticals sales manager in her 40s. The pair later married. The Nathan affair was only one of many aspects of Giuliani's bio reported to have hurt him with conservatives in the 2008 Republican presidential primaries. Career impact: Moderate
