Punk Rock
There was a punk music revolution in 1977 many new punk rock bands emerged and ushered in the alternative pop and rock is 1980. These bands still put out songs about political issues but the music style changed. Songs using a synthesizer and yet other songs with a more melodic acoustic guitar were coming about. These songs changed the music scene.
There are several related styles included in this genre, New wave, Alternative Pop/Rock, New Romantic, Indie Rock, and Pop Music. Some of the more notable bands in this era are The Cure, Devo, The Saints, Talking Heads, Adam Ant, Bauhaus, and Depeche Mode. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=77:2636
Punk Music knows no boundaries is comes from all over the world. The Ramones and Sex Pistols set the stage for other Punk Rock bands and each decade the music changes but old favorites remain popular. Floggy Molly is a punk band from California who mixes punk music with an Irish flavor, uniting the two with ease.

Punk
The subculture, which is associated with punk rock, is as diverse as the people who listen to the music. While some may believe that punk rockers are progressive or left wing in their political thinking, they really are all over the political spectrum. http://library.nothingness.org/articles/SI/en/display/86
Punk rockers as they sometimes are called, are very independent and love the freedom of personal expression. Some have multiple piercings, and have hair color, which has been dyed to various colors. It appears that those who enjoy this type of music love to shock other people with this freedom of personal expression, which includes not only the hair colors, which stands out but add in hairstyles, which reflect that style.
Some of those people who listen to puck like to wear suggestive vinyl, rubber, or leather clothing in public because other people associate this type of clothing with sexual acts. Punk clothing is also known to be tight blue jeans, t-shirts with band logos, and occasionally you will find someone in the culture that enjoys drawing a swastika on clothing purely for the shock value it brings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punk_subculture
There artwork is also individualized and expresses their music. Punk album covers or artwork in generally created with easy to understand messages of contempt with political issues.
