Gayle Haggard

When the Haggards left the New Life Church in 2006, Ted issued an apology to the congregation. On November 5, 2006, Ted wrote that he was guilty of "sexual immorality" and referred to himself as a "deceiver and a liar." Gayle also wrote a letter to the church which read, "I would not change one iota of what I have been teaching the women of our church. For those of you who have been concerned that my marriage was so perfect I could not possibly relate to the women who are facing great difficulties, know that this will never again be the case."The Denver Post: Disgraced Haggard: I Am a "Deceiver and a Liar" (November 5, 2006)

David Pinckney

Pinckney was asked by a prison chaplain in Concord if he would consider taking in the homeless convict. Pinckney hosted a dinner for him on March 12, and, after discussing it with the family, allowed Guay to stay in their basement for a period of two months, until the man can find a place to live and a job.Union Leader: Pastor tells why he took in killer (March 16, 2009)

Federal probation officers will supervise the release, and Pinckney established additional rules for Guay. He cannot be alone; he cannot leave the house except under supervision. Local police will be informed every time he comes into town.Union Leader: Pastor tells why he took in killer (March 16, 2009)

Pinckney's neighbors have launched an active campaign to have Guay removed from the region; and Pinckney has received negative phone calls and heard gun shots in the area.Union Leader: Pastor tells why he took in killer (March 16, 2009)
