Pakistan Bomb
Three U.S. soldiers and three Pakistani children were killed on February 3, 2010 in the city of Timergara in an attack for which the Taliban claimed responsibility.http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6120UH20100203?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+reuters%2FtopNews+%28News+%2F+US+%2F+Top+News%29 The blast also claimed the life of at least one Pakistani soldier, while wounding 45 people. The attack took place in an area known as Swat Valley, where government efforts to clear out Taliban militants were mounted last year.
The three soldiers from the United States were part of a unit training members of the Pakistani Frontier Corps to handle security.
"We will continue such attacks on Americans," stated Taliban spokesman Azam Tariq.http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6120UH20100203?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+reuters%2FtopNews+%28News+%2F+US+%2F+Top+News%29 "It's revenge for the bomb blasts carried out by Blackwater in Pakistan."
The blast was apparently triggered via a remote-controlled device. Pakistan's Taliban have upped their attacks in an attempt to further strain the effectiveness of the country's government, led by current President Asif Ali Zardfari. They have bombed markets, schools, and military and police facilities, despite being attacked relentlessly themselves by U.S. drone aircraft strikes.
