Kathy Bates Oscar Dress
Kathy Bates was born and also raised in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1948. While attending high school, she found the drama club and instantly fell in love with the scene. Soon after the show moved on without her, relocating to New York's off-Broadway Playhouse Theater. She found herself small roles in several films becoming an inspiring actress. Each film lead her to a bigger film. Until she finally reached her goal, and made it in Hollywood, doing major film productions, for famous and well liked producers.

At the same age, she started her acting lessons, which landed her a spot in a performing arts high school. Her Hollywood break came in 1994, when she was 17, when she was cast as an obsessive child in the movie Heavenly Creatures.
