NASDAQ Evacuation Times Square
A suspicious van lead to the evacuation of the NASDAQ building in New York City's Times Square on the morning and early afternoon hours of December 30, 2009, the day before New Year's Eve 2009.
The abandoned vehicle is a white 1992 Dodge van with tinted windows. It was parked at Broadway and 42nd Street. Police shut down 7th Avenue from 44th to 40th streets. All traffic was redirected to 8th Avenue by 12:30 p.m. The suspicious vehicle had a fake card in the windshield for a phony New York or New Jersey police agency. In addition to the NYPD, the Counter-terrorism Bureau officers were on the scene as well as a bomb squad and emergency service units. The bomb squad used a robot equipped with a camera before approaching the vehicle.http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/30/abandoned-van-prompts-police-response-on-times-square/ At 12:55 p.m. EST FOX News reported that the FBI was also on the scene.
By 1:10 p.m. EST tourists and pedestrians could be seen back in the area around the vehicle. Investigators were searching the van and it was reported that one of the officers gave a 'thumb-up' or all clear sign.

Times Square Car Bomb
According to English Telegraph, police are investigating whether the attempted Times Square car bombing might have links with the recent South Park controversy on their portrayal of the prophet Muhammad in one of their episodes.
