Knewton
Adaptive learning is an educational method which uses computers to create interactive, customizable learning environments. Adaptive learning has been partially driven by a realization that tailored learning cannot be achieved on a large-scale using traditional, non-adaptive approaches. Adaptive learning systems endeavor to transform the learner from passive receptor of information to collaborator in the educational process.
Under the Knewton model, each student's learning plan is personalized at an atomic level, and constantly readjusted based on his or her every action. Every day, Knewton will dynamically put together a unique study plan: Students receive content sorted by concept, difficulty, and media type, and are consistently exposed to the material in order that they don't forget key concepts.
Knewton starts by assigning tags to each piece of educational content—more than 100,000 tags in total! Every concept is categorized down to the level from which it can no longer be divided. Then we track, at this same atomic level, how you interact with each concept. If we notice that you learn certain concepts better by watching video, then for related concepts in the future, you get more video. If we notice that on certain concepts you learn better if you work through a specific number (or difficulty level) of practice questions, then for related concepts in the future, that's what you'll get.
Additional Features:
- Concept Queue: Concepts for review appear in your concept queue. You'll see adaptive learning everyday via your queue, which lists only the ...

Punctuation
Punctuation has been around since ancient Rome and Greece, when it was used as a public speaking aid. Speeches were prepared in writing and punctuation was used to let the speaker know when to pause, and for how long. The period was the longest pause, the comma was the shortest, and the colon was somewhere in between.http://grammar.about.com/od/punctuationandmechanics/a/PunctuationHistory.htm
William Caxton, an English printer, liked to use the forward slash (/), which he used primarily as a comma. After him, playwright Ben Johnson began to explain the uses for other punctuation marks, such as the comma, parenthises, period, and question mark in his book, The English Grammar. There is no "father" of punctuation, however. It has changed greatly from its primitive youth, and over the years has been modified to become what it is today: an important tool for writers.http://grammar.about.com/od/punctuationandmechanics/a/PunctuationHistory.htm

Homeschool Curriculum
The Web offers free teacher education courses and resources that break down curriculum types in the hopes of helping parents choose the right homeschool curriculum for their child.
The site Free-Ed.Net offers free courses in both early childhood education and educational methods. Learning theories that are appropriate for grades K-12, are available through a link that takes the viewer to a document on Learner.org. http://www.learner.org/resources/series172.html#
Another website discusses seven curricular theories that will put parents and guardians on the right track towards the right homeschooling curriculum that will meet their child's needs.http://webpages.charter.net/ljloeffler/Futurist/id15.htm
The site Time4Learning.com, provides parents and guardians with "an affordable and engaging online homeschool curriculum for PreK - 8th grade." http://www.time4learning.com/education/curriculum_overview.shtml?utm_source=Child-Central&utm_medium=Text%20Link&utm_content=T4L+curriculum+link&utm_campaign=Child-Central+overview+link
In addition to entire curricula, for those interested in putting their own curriculum together individual subject curricula can be combined for a larger, overall program. For instance, Saxon Math provides a math course that can be integrated into any program, and there are optional curricula that can be added as well, such as character education.http://saxonpublishers.hmhco.com/en/sxnm_home.htm http://www.peacefulsolution.org/curriculum/index.html A simple web search for the individual "subject + homeschool curriculm" or "subject + lesson plans" can bring back a variety of results.
