Alan Ogg

Alan Ogg was a National Basketball Association player who spent two seasons with the Miami Heat and one season split between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Washington Bullets.

Ogg passed away at the age of 42 on November 1, 2009, from a staph infection. The Miami Heat observed a moment of silence in his honor before their game that evening.

Miami Heat Roster

While there have been many great roster combinations in Miami Heat history, it would be hard to argue a better roster than the one that captured the 2006 NBA Championship. Nicknamed ’15 Strong’, that roster was pieced together over the 2 previous summers and against widespread criticism and doubt, that roster stuck together and reached the pinnacle of the sport by capturing the championship in dramatic fashion, becoming only the third team in history to win the NBA Finals after losing the first two games. Co-captains Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal led the roster, while the rest of the roster was filled out with aging but savvy veterans such as Gary Payton, Jason Williams, Alonzo Mourning, and Antoine Walker. Unfortunately, injuries decimated the roster the following year and they were unable to defend the title after getting swept in the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs. The ensuing summer saw a major overhaul of the roster as the Heat went into a rebuilding mode.
