Justice Stevens Retirement
Justice John Paul Stevens was born on April 20, 1920 and will turn 90 years old just 11 days after his announcement to retire. Although Stevens was appointed to the Supreme Court by Republican Gerald Ford in the year 1975 and was considered a moderate early on in his career, he took a more liberal turn over the years (particularly on issues such as affirmative action and the death penalty).http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/20/AR2006022001196.html
Justice Stevens has the somewhat quirky honor of having a champagne room at the New York City strip club Scores named after him. While it is unlikely that Mr. Stevens was ever a client at this establishment, he did grant a legal stay on behalf of adult clubs in the area while a crack down, initiated by then-mayor Rudy Giuliani, was underway in 1998.http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/09/for-retiring-justice-an-honor-he-might-like-to-forget/
