Mikhail Fradkov

Mikhail Fradkov is the former Prime Minister of Russia. Fradkov announced his resignation to President Vladimir Putin on September 12, 2007. On the same day, Putin nominated head of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service Viktor Zubkov as his replacement.

Yuri Nosenko

Former KGB agent Yuri Nosenko died in August of 2008 in an undisclosed area of the American South.The New York Times: Yuri Nosenko, Soviet Spy Who Defected, Dies at 81 (August 27, 2008) Nosenko was 81 years old. He had defected to the United States in Switzerland in 1964.

Iraq Withdrawal 2011

U.S. combat soldiers may leave Iraq by 2011. Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki stated that any agreement on U.S withdrawal will have to contain a "specific" timeline.CNN: Iraqi PM demands 'specific' U.S. pullout timeline(August 25, 2008)

On October 20, 2008, the pact was forwarded to the Iraqi government. However, the pact was stalled after a key coalition failed to endorse it after meeting.UPI: U.S.-Iraq security pact's fate clouded (October 20, 2008) The pact has moved forward after Iraqi cabinet minsters approved the security agreement on November 16, 2008. Mohammed al Modadi

With the words shoe bomb spoken, thoughts and media coverage related back to the Richard Reid shoe bomb situation from 2001 and the more recent Nigerian shoe bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

Reid attempted to blow up American Airlines flight 63 traveling from Paris to Miami on December 22, 2001 but was prevented from doing so by passengers. The Reid situation led to a much more stringent security check for passengers. More recently a Nigerian man allegedly tried to detonate a bomb on a passenger jet arriving in the US in Detroit during Christmas holidays. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was also overpowered by passengers and Northwest Airline crew just before his Amsterdam to Detroit flight landed on December 24. US Afghan Airstrike Deaths

Admiral Chabanenko

The Admiral Chabanenko is a Russian anti-submarine destroyer. Completed for the Russian Navy in 1996, the Chabanenko arrived for duty with the northern fleet in March 1999.
