Deepak Chopra
Deepak Chopra is an Indian-born doctor, author, philosopher and lecturer. As a medical doctor, Chopra worked at several major hospitals in the United States, and managed a private practice, until he developed an interest in Transcendental Meditation in 1981. He became a leader in the mind-body medicine movement and eventually founded the Chopra Center in 1996. Though primarily known for his contributions to the theory of mind-body medicine, particularly the idea that consciousness, meditation and self-awareness are keys to both healing and illness, he has also written extensively about religion and spirituality. In 2005 he offered his controversial solution to the debate between Evolution and Creationism, arguing for an understanding of Intelligent Design without a dependence on The Bible. Chopra has drawn extensive criticism for his references to the relationship between Quantum Mechanics and healing, a connection that is disputed by most physicists.
