Rand Paul
As Rand Paul campaigned against Jack Conway for the U.S. Senate seat his website focused on a series of “Where is Jack?” issues. In a “Where’s Waldo?” fashion, the campaign published news releases focusing on the Republican Party view of where Jack Conway stood on an issue, followed by what Rand Paul would do for the state if elected. Rand Paul’s stand on issues included:
- Dream Act: Rand Paul opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants.http://www.randpaul2010.com/2010/09/dream-act-for-illegal-immigrants-where-is-jack/
- Cap and Trade: Rand Paul believes Cap and Trade would harm the Kentucky coal industry and if elected would fight against it.http://www.randpaul2010.com/2010/10/obama-wants-cap-and-trade-next-year-where-is-jack/
- Health care: Rand Paul opposes the 2010 changes to health care plans and would work to overturn what he refers to as “Obamacare” if elected to the United States Senate.http://www.randpaul2010.com/2010/09/as-attorneys-general-open-lawsuit-against-obamacare-where-is-jack/
- Labor issues: Rand Paul opposes proposed card check legislation and believes secret ballots should remain an option.http://www.randpaul2010.com/2010/09/washington-liberals-and-big-labor-attack-the-secret-ballot-where-is-jack/

2010 Election
In November of 2010, 37 states will hold elections for governors. These gubernatorial races are to take place in California, Colorado, Florida, New York State and Ohio, among others. Primary races will continue throughout the summer to determine the Democratic and Republican candidates for each state.http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/2010_Elections/page?id=10476449
One major ballot measure, which has the potential to set a precedence for states across the country, is the California Marijuana Legalization Initiative. This measure would allow marijuana to be carried, cultivated and used by all persons over the age of 21 years, and would allow the state and local government to collect taxes on the substance. Currently, marijuana is only legal in California for medical patients, and it is not taxed. Marijuana would still remain illegal under federal law.http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/California_Marijuana_Legalization_Initiative_(2010)

Roxanne Conlin
Conlin wishes to help support the middle class by providing tax relief and promoting job growth in the private sector. She also wants to promote the purchasing of American products rather than foreign ones. She disagrees with her opponent Grassley on the issue of privatizing social security, stating that she does not want to put the economic fate of the people into the hands of Wall Street.http://roxanneforiowa.com/index.php/pages/social-security-and-medicare/

Jim Himes
During his 2010 bid for reelection, Jim Himes campaigned as a fiscal conservative who would go against his party, if it was the right decision for his constituents.http://himes.3cdn.net/ba7d1581dffbe8117d_09m6i6q0d.pdf His campaign literature highlighted that he had broken from the party on a bill that would have allowed $200 billion spending, and on economic issues, Himes voted more conservatively than 42 percent of U.S. House of Representative members.http://himes.3cdn.net/ba7d1581dffbe8117d_09m6i6q0d.pdf
In his first term in Congress, Himes voted with the party issues such as the health care reform bill and the stimulus package.http://elections.nytimes.com/2010/house/connecticut/4 He also voted to pass the energy bill, which aimed to help the United States become energy independent and create "green" jobs.http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-111hr2454pcs/pdf/BILLS-111hr2454pcs.pdf http://elections.nytimes.com/2010/house/connecticut/4
