Sassy Gay Friend
Second City is a famous improvisational comedy and theater troupe originating from Chicago, Illinois. The group kickstarted the careers of numerous comedy stars, including John Belushi, Bill Murray and Chris Farley, and was the inspiration for the TV series SCTV, starring Rick Moranis, John Candy and Dave Thomas.
The first Second City theater opened in Chicago on December 16, 1959. The franchise later spread to Toronto and Los Angeles. The television series, which ran from 1976 to 1984 featured actors from the Toronto troupe.
Today, the group is primarily associated with the Second City Training Centers, which teach classes to aspiring comedians in improvisational comedy techniques. All three of the major Second City groups have their own training centers, which feature a variety of courses involving writing and performing comedy. Often, promising students from the training courses will be invited to join the regular group of performers, or even become teachers themselves. Notable comedians who have come up through the Second City courses include Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Jon Favreau and Mike Myers.

Muppets Stand by Me
MuppetsStudio has previous created and uploaded a number of different Muppet videos similar to Stand By Me. Some of their more popular Muppet performance videos include: Beaker's Ballad, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Carol of the Bells. Just like this Stand By Me video, the other videos produced by MuppetsStudio are all very well done, sound great, and appear to all have high production value.
Their previous videos have also gained much attention on the internet, having been extensively passed around social networking sites like FaceBook, Twitter, and MySpace. Proof of this fact can be found in the view count numbers for their previous videos:
- Beaker's Ballad
- 1,286,640 views (as of April 1, 2010)
- The video was posted on February 08, 2010
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- 13,671,425 views (as of April 1, 2010)
- The video was posted on November 23, 2009
- Carol of the Bells
- 1,162,828 views (as of April 1, 2010)
- The video was posted on December 10, 2009
Judging by the previous success of MuppetsStudio's YouTube videos, it would appear likely that this latest video—Stand By Me—stands a good chance of performing equally as well and receiving a very large number of views.

Chatroulette Piano Improv
During a live concert at the Fillmore Theater in Charlotte, North Carolina, on March 20, 2010, pianist Ben Folds performed a tribute to Merton's ChatRoulette improv. video. Dressed like Merton, in the trademark glasses and hooded sweatshirt, Folds connected to ChatRoulette and riffed on the strangers with whom he was connected. At one point, Folds turns his head to read a note someone is holding up. The note reads: "If you turn your head, I win."
The moment had particular significance because many had initially believed Merton was Folds when the original YouTube video was posted. Merton's description on the ChatRoulette improv. video noted that he was not Folds and had no connection to the popular indie musician and former member of the band Ben Folds Five.
