Short-Eared Owl
Short-eared owls are not a federally endangered species. However, habitat loss is endangering them in many regions, particularly in the states near and around the Great Lakes in the United States. As such, short-eared owls have been marked as endangered in Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New York.http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/information/Asio_flammeus.htmlhttp://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7080.html

Sumatran Tiger
The Sumatran tiger is one of the few remaining subspecies of tiger in the wild and although they are limited to the island of Sumatra the types of terrain that they occupy range from lowland forests to mountain forestland. http://www.honoluluzoo.org/tiger.htm Since these tigers are the smallest of the existing sub species, averaging 8 feet at 265 pounds for the male and 7 feet at 200 pounds for the female, they can move quickly and easily through dense jungle growth. http://www.honoluluzoo.org/tiger.htm This particular tiger is one of only two cats that enjoys being in the water the other being the South American jaguar. Because the Sumatran tiger has webbing that spreads out between the toes this animal is a very fast swimmer and actually prefers to force hoofed animals into the water as they are very slow swimmers and therefore much easier to catch when in the water. The choice of prey for these tigers is simple; they will kill anything that they can catch including but not limited to pigs, deer, fish, crocodiles, and fowl. The Sumatran tiger is capable of breeding at any time of the year but typically choose to mate in winter or spring. Gestation takes approximately 103 days and concludes in the birth of two or three cubs who will leave the den at about 2 months but will continue to be dependent on the mother until they are 6 months of age. http://www ...

Cougar
Cougars avoid humans, but as more people move into their territory the chances of meeting increases. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-puma.html To avoid coming across a cougar do not hike alone, or at dusk and dawn when they hunt. Make noise as you hike and don’t leave food around a cabin or campsite. If you do cross paths with a cougar, never approach it and give it a way to escape. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-puma.html Statistics show cougars are responsible for four attacks and one human fatality in the US and Canada each year. http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/mountain-lion/
