New Zealand Earthquake 2010
Earthquakes in New Zealand are not uncommon. Fox News reported that New Zealand actually has more than 14,000 earthquakes annually, though they are typically minor, with "only about 150 felt by residents." The USGS says the last two major earthquakes to hit the country struck in January of 1977 and November of 1995. Both quakes measured a 6.1 on the Richter Scale and neither resulted in casualties.http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/09/03/major-earthquake-hits-new-zealand/?test=latestnews
