Stomp the Yard
Los Angeles krump dancer DJ Williams (Columbus Short) is sent to (fictional) Truth University in Georgia, where he gets involved in a stepping rivalry between the Theta Nu Theta and Mu Gamma Xi fraternities.
To win the affection of fellow student April Palmer (Meagan Good), DJ joins the Theta Nu Theta and overcomes his troubled past to defeat the Gammas in a final dance-off.
Despite moderate box office success, Stomp the Yard was received poorly by critics, who disliked the movie's cliched and formulaic storyline. Though the choreography was praised, the frat-on-frat rivalry was considered too "predictable" and "shallow."
Stomp the Yard has a 27% rating (out of a possible 100%) on Rotten Tomatoes.

Momma's Man

The Express Reviews
Michael Rechtshaffen of The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Quaid's portrayal of Davis' coach Ben Schwartzwalder "tugs at the heartstrings," while Variety's John Anderson found Quaid to be a "convincing metaphor" for a struggling nation.Variety: The Express Review (September 28, 2008) The Hollywood Reporter: The Express Review (September 26, 2008)
Critic Roger Ebert gave The Express three out of four stars, admitting that although he noticed the formulaic structure, he was a "a fall guy" for sports films. Still, he called the formula "durable" since the movie had a good story.Roger Ebert: The Express Review (October 8, 2008)
Cinema Blend's Mack Rawden thought the film was "a B-movie barbecue sauce of been-there-done-that retreads" that succeeded only on "a basic level." A review on UGO praised the performances from the cast, but criticized the "earnest" screenplay.Cinema Blend: The Express Review (October 5, 2008) UGO: The Express Review (October 3, 2008)
