Essential Oils
As stated in the guide, Essential Oils (EOs) are extracted by means of cold pressing, steam extraction, or solvent extraction. Oil purities and qualities will vary depending upon the materials used for extraction, the extraction method used, and upon whether any distillation or purification is performed after extraction. Essential Oils are used by the food and fragrance industries. These oils are also used by individuals for homeopathic medical reasons, for aromatherapy, and for massage and spa treatments. Medical doctors in Europe have been using EOs for several years and some doctors in the US are incorporating their use, as well.
If using an essential oil for homeopathic, massage, or spa treatment, the oil should be tested on a small patch of skin of an individual prior to using the oil. It is generally recommended that an essential oil be diluted first with a carrier oil, such as grapeseed oil, olive oil, almond oil, or another carrier oil, and tested on a patch of skin on the inside of the forearm. If no reaction occurs within half an hour, the oil should be safe for use on the individual tested. Always try to use the highest purity oils for personal use.

Stretch Marks
The prevention or minimization of stretch marks may be obtained by one or more of the following means:
Diet
Keeping yourself well hydrated helps your skin hydration and softness. This in turn makes your skin less vulnerable to the development of stretch marks.
If you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages, it is important to drink as much or more water, in order to maintain a proper hydration balance.
Consuming foods high in nutrients associated with proper skin health, such as fish for zinc, citrus fruits, milk and carrots for vitamins A and C, and protein rich foods will also contribute to the prevention of stretch marks.
Creams
There are many over the counter creams and lotions which are used to treat stretch marks. You should consult with your skin care professional to determine which product is best for your particular type of skin and extent of stretch marks.
If pregnant, it is advisable to discuss your concerns about stretch marks wit your doctor before they develop so that a preventive treatment plan can be implemented.
Dermatological Treatments
In extreme cases, treatments such as dermabrasion, chemical peels and laser surgery may be used to reduce the appearance of unwanted stretch marks. Before entering into such treatments, make sure to discuss all of the options and recovery times associated with such treatments with your doctor.
