Texas GOP Primary
While there are twice as many confirmed candidates for the Democratic nomination, most have conceeded that the nomination will fall to former Houston mayor Bill White. However, 50% plus 1 is what is needed in order to prevent a run-off election, and this is something to keep in mind as the polls remain open.
Other candidates on the Demorcratic side include: Alma Ludvina Aguado, Felix Alvarado, Bill Dear, Clement Glenn, Star Locke, and Farouk Shami. Shami is the CEO of Farouk Systems, and is likely the biggest challenge to White.
There are also nine confirmed independent candidates for the governor's race as well.

Dallas Bank Shooting
Dallas police were called to a shooting on the morning of March 8, 2010 responding to a 911 call for shots fired. A father and son that are in the financial planning business were shot by another man, who reportedly was upset about some financial losses.http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/35765225/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/ The father and son, the names of which have not been publicly released, were brought to a nearby hospital for their injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.
The incident occurred in an office building that houses a United Texas Bank branch, and several bank employees barricaded themselves in the bank vault for the duration of the shootout. After the gunman shot and fired on the two financial planners, he then engaged in a shootout with Dallas police. Eventually the gunman shot himself in an attempt to kill himself.
