PETN Explosive
PETN (pentaerythritol tetranitrate) is a explosive chemical with a high concentration of nitric acid. According to GlobalSecurity.org, PETN is more sensitive to "shock or friction than TNT or tetryl." Both heat and shock-waves can detonate PETN. It is a synthetic chemical that looks like a white crystalline-powder. It is used in demolition work and the military began using it after World War I as a booster material for other explosive devices.http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/explosives-nitrate.htm#petnhttp://www.freep.com/article/20091227/NEWS05/91227001/1318/
On December 25, 2009, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab reportedly tried to detonate 80g of PETN on a plane en-route from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan. The "shoe bomber" Richard Reid had a PETN device when he attempted to blow up American Airlines flight 63 from Paris to Miami in 2001.http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/dec/27/petn-pentaerythritol-trinitrate-explosive PETN was also used in the Lockerbie bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988.http://www.osha.gov/dts/chemicalsampling/data/CH_260110.html

Procter and Gamble
Procter and Gamble was founded in 1837 by William Procter and James Gamble. Procter, an English immigrant, began making candles in Cincinnati. Gamble, an Irish immigrant, became his brother-in-law when the two married sisters Olivia and Elizabeth Norris. Their father-in-law encouraged the pair to go into business together which they did, finally agreeing to a joint venture after several years.http://www.pg.com/en_US/downloads/media/Fact_Sheets_CompanyHistory.pdf
Procter brought his candle-making expertise to the company, while Gamble, an experienced soap-maker, offered his services. The company began by selling candles and soap in the Ohio area. The company became more of a family business as Procter's eldest son became the first president of the corporation in 1890. Gamble's eldest son later instituted the first laboratory in the company's history, creating Ivory Soap.http://www.pg.com/en_US/downloads/media/Fact_Sheets_CompanyHistory.pdf
As of 2010, the corporation sells and manufactures 81 different brands, ranging from budget household items, such as Tide and Pampers, to designer lines, including Dolce & Gabbana and Burberry.http://www.pg.com/en_US/brands/all_brands.shtml

Thomas Edison
He became a local hero when he saved a three-year-old boy from a certain death by a runaway train and the boy’s father taught young Edison how to be a telegraph operator. The rest they say is history; Edison found a love of the telegraph and went on to improve it.
Thomas Edison had six children with two wives. With first wife Mary, he became a father to Marion, Thomas Jr and William. Mary died early and left him with three young children so he married Mina and they had three children together, Madeline, Charles, and Theodore. Charles would grow up to become the governor of New Jersey. Theodore the only one to earn a college degree and followed in his fathers footsteps with 80 patents in his name.
