Walking With Thee
"Ultimately, Walking with Thee is neither an album of triumph nor of disappointment. Its first and last tracks hint at a new direction for Clinic that could, if fully realized, become something utterly brilliant. Yet, much of this record remains stuck between the raw vitality of Internal Wrangler and the detached, haunting beauty that's hinted at on "For the Wars" and "Harmony." Thankfully, the album is less of a tragic misstep than an awkward straddle. And at this point, there's very little doubt that Clinic are perfectly capable of turning awkwardness into brilliance." — Matt LeMay, Pitchforkhttp://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/1512-walking-with-thee/
"Now Walking With Thee, on the other hand, finds the band cleaning up their sound (but not making it too clean), keeping the lyrics basically unintelligible, and incorporating a healthy dose of steady dancehall beats. Oh, and there's harmonica too." — Bill Aicher, Music-Critic.comhttp://www.music-critic.com/rock/clinic_walkingwiththee.htm

Victorialand
"Certain songs and records are potently evocative of places, times, and seasons — no rock record so perfectly conjures the chill and gothic wonder of winter than Victorialand. The Cocteau Twins made an entire career playing indistinct, dark guitar pop and none of their work brings the shivers quite like this album." — Brett Warner, Ology.comhttp://ology.com/music/record-rewind-victorialand-cocteau-twins
"Rhythms are subtler, with bass and drum machine often totally eschewed in favor of Guthrie's delicate guitar filigrees and lush, produced textures. Fraser is, as always, in wonderfully fine voice; her words are quite indecipherable, but the feelings are no less strong for it." — Ned Raggett, All Music Guidehttp://www.allmusic.com/album/victorialand-r4256/review

Clinic (band)
"I’ve never liked the idea that you’ve got the lead singer out front, and it’s a standard rock band. I don’t think the image is an essential element, it’s more of an addition to it – it’s just something else visually there. It wouldn’t really make too much difference whether you played in costume or not, the main thing is still the music." — Ade Blackburn, interview with L.A. Recordhttp://larecord.com/interviews/2008/05/20/clinic-more-of-a-nunny-state
"We’ve always collected creaky old instruments...there’s always knackered dulcimers and mandolins and stuff like that lying about. Writing on those helps you still approach it like kids. If you get another instrument you can’t play, you have to work it out, and you end up coming up with something simple, little melodies." — Ade Blackburn, interview with Domino Recordshttp://www.dominorecordco.com/artists/clinic/

Rid of Me (album)
"But it’s an awkward record to pour one’s affections over; a snarling affair that barks and lashes out like a beast cornered. The artwork is striking, an apparently topless Harvey flicking a head of entrails-alike hair from, presumably, a bathroom body of water, and the music contained within the packaging is equally as memorable. Largely recorded alongside celebrated engineer Steve Albini, who allows each compositional element space to flex and flail, it’s a collection of songs so close to the bone of subject matter that to cut them would simply blunt the blade." — Mike Diver, BBChttp://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/9x3q
"It may be the aural embodiment of the tortured lyrics, and therefore a supremely effective piece of performance art, but it also makes Rid of Me a difficult record to meet halfway. But anyone willing to accept its sonic extremities will find Rid of Me to be a record of unusual power and purpose, one with few peers in its unsettling emotional honesty." — Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guidehttp://www.allmusic.com/album/rid-of-me-r170348

Internal Wrangler
"There's nothing particularly "experimental" or ground-breaking about Internal Wrangler. Guitar, bass, and drums are the predominant instruments, with flourishes of organ and tinny drum samples thrown in. There are no microtonal guitar solos or squelching analog synthtones. The true beauty of Clinic is that they have, using a relatively standard rock vocabulary, constructed a truly distinctive, energetic, and magnetically appealing sound." — Matt LeMay, Pitchforkhttp://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/1513-internal-wrangler/
"Though some of the thrashier songs like "C.Q." and "T.K." and a bottom-heavy song sequence detract from the album's flow, Internal Wrangler is still a strong debut from one of England's most promising and distinctive indie bands." — Heather Phares, All Music Guidehttp://www.allmusic.com/album/r498965
