The Listener
"Except for some appealing qualities in its young star, Craig Olejnik, the new NBC series premiering tonight is just another loopy downer about an everyday schmo who has otherworldly powers." - Tom Shales, Washington Post (June 4, 2009)

Acting
Acting dates back to 534 B.C. when Thespis performed one man shows on the streets of Greece. He pulled a handcart around on the streets and would stop to perform his one man show for the crowds that gathered. Before this, entertainment came mainly in the form of poetry readings and performances by the chorus. Thespis is said to have came out of the chorus one night and began talking as a character. He added makeup and masks to his shows which grew into the makeup and costuming which are used in acting today. Actors are often referred to as Thespians in honor of Thespis being considered the first actor in history.http://www.in2greece.com/english/historymyth/history/ancient/thespis.htm http://www.pbs.org/empires/thegreeks/background/24a.html

Royal Pains
"There is something refreshing, in the way that a Popsicle is refreshing, about a summer series set in the summer in a place where people go to summer -- it amplifies the season. “Royal Pains,” which takes place in the Hamptons and premieres tonight on USA, begins with that advantage, and for the most part does not squander it." —Los Angeles Times (June 4, 2009)
"...the show's biggest hurdle moving forward will be: How do you make the entitled clients annoying enough to remind us what a good, moral guy Hank is but not annoying enough that we want to change the channel because we're just flat-out angry that these people get to live in such beautiful beachfront homes? The answer is you focus at least 50 percent of each episode on Hank's love life.'' — Entertainment Weekly (June 5, 2009)

The Rutles
Barry Wom born Barrington Womble, was the drummer for the Rutles. He was the first Rutle to be married, but there was a mix-up at the wedding ceremony and, for a time, his wife was married to a group of Scotsmen from Hull. In 1968, in response to the "Stig is dead" rumors, Barry stayed out of the public eye to gain attention with his own "Barry is also dead" rumors. After the Rutles broke up, Barry became a hairdresser.

John Hamm Interview
This interview by The Kevin Pollak Chat Show features Mad Men staring actor John Hamm who plays Don Draper. In the interview, Kevin Pollak and John Hamm discuss the industry of acting and the impact that Mad Men has had on the Entertainment industry. The interview starts at 14:50.
The Kevin Pollak Chat Show is a weekly celebrity interview show hosted by comedian Kevin Pollak. With an irreverent sense of humor and an acknowledgment that the Internet is the future home of entertainment, KPCS is a light, funny, sometimes serious and always interesting view of celebrity life and the entertainment industry.http://kevinpollakschatshow.com/
Starting the interview off on the right foot, John Hamm reminds Kevin Pollak that contrary to Pollak's memory, the two had spent an entire afternoon together playing golf five years ago. Embarrassed, Pollak backpedals by saying that he was the "best golfer of the day" while Hamm responds with a comment that Pollak was "preforming".
To progress the chat, Pollak and Hamm talk about "the George Clooney effect" where emerging actors are often subjected to preforming in a countless number of pilot series before a reliable character is formed on a long standing show. Hamm recounts that this is how he was cast for Mad Men and that his breakout story isn't unique, rather that a number of "pre-reads" were required before being considered for the role of Don Draper.
