Wings of Desire
"Astonishing things happen and symbolism can only work by being apparent. For me, the film is like music or a landscape: It clears a space in my mind, and in that space I can consider questions." — Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Timeshttp://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19980412/REVIEWS08/401010374/1023
"The conceit gets a little out of hand after one of the angels falls in love with the trapeze artist and decides to become human; but prior to this, Wings of Desire is one of Wenders' most stunning achievements." — Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Readerhttp://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/wings-of-desire/Film?oid=1070910

Airplane Movie
Reviews from the site Rotten Tomatoes have given Airplane a 98% approval rating as of March 2010, with an average rating of 8.4 points out of possible 10.http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/airplane/ Janet Maslin reported to The New York Times in 1980, "At a time when throwaway gags seem like a luxury in any film, Airplane! has jokes—hilarious jokes—to spare. It's also clever and confident and furiously energetic."http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/review?res=EE05E7DF1738E762BC4A53DFB166838B699EDE Common Sense Media warns the film is "iffy" for younger viewers ages 12 and down, as Airplane contains partial nudity, drug references, violence, and lots of sexual innuendo.http://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/airplane

Ran
Ran means "chaos" and "war" in Japanese, and thus the film explores the nihilistic nature of violence through its actions and images. It is Kurosawa's most visually violent film, and he later revealed in interviews that he intended it as a metaphor for nuclear warfare, especially living in Japan in the nuclear age.
Over 1,400 extras and 200 horses were used for the battle sequences and it is one of Kurosawa's only films to graphically display blood during killings.

Some Kind of Wonderful
In the film, Watts, a tomboy, (played by the close-cropped blonde Mary Stuart Masterson) begins to have feelings for her close friend, Keith (Eric Stoltz), when he begins dating the most popular girl in school, Amanda Jones (Lea Thompson). However, Jones initially only dates Keith to get back at her wealthy boyfriend Hardy Jenns (Craig Sheffer). The action in the film climaxes at the fateful date between Keith and Amanda, mainly because Watts is the driver, and Jenns's gang is getting set to prevent it from happening.
