Climate
Topeka has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Temperatures range from about 17 degrees Fahrenheit in January to nearly 90 degrees Fahrenheit in July. The city averages around 36 inches of precipitation annually. Much of the rainfall is brought by thunderstorms which often produce lightning, hail, and occasionally tornadoes. Winter snowfall averages at around 20 inches.
