Fullback Tony Richardson plays for the New York Jets in the National Football League. Richardson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys. Since then he has played for the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and his current team, the New York Jets. He spent his college football years with the Auburn Tigers Richardson originally signed a contract with the Jets preceding the 2008 season. He became an unrestricted free agent in the Summer of 2010, but the Jets re-signed him to a one year contract. Richardson has blocked for great backs like Adrian Peterson, Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson and most recently Thomas Jones. Wherever he goes, the running game immediately improves and he has been a vital part of many top ranked rushing offenses, including the 2009 Jets who ranked #1 in rush offense, thanks in large part to Richardson.
The Jets made their surprising run to the 2009 AFC Championship Game on the strength of the aforementioned running game and defense. They tried to protect their rookie starting QB, by surrounding him with a punishing running game with a great offensive line and successfully protected him.
Richardson and the Jets offensive line paved the way for Thomas Jones who rushed for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns, and Shonn Greene who became the first rookie in NFL history with three consecutive 100 yard rushing efforts in the postseason.
