Tony Danza is an American television actor and former boxer who grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Danza quit boxing after being cast on the TV show Taxi. In the show, which also starred Judd Hirsh, Danny DeVito, Marilu Henner, Christopher Lloyd and Andy Kaufman, Danza played the role of "Tony Banta", a cab driver who boxed on the side.
From 1984 to 1992, Danza starred on the sitcom, Who's the Boss, alongside Judith Light, Alyssa Milano and Katherine Helmond. On the show, Danza played "Tony Micelli", an ex-baseball player who becomes a house-keeper to provide a better lifestyle for his daughter.
Danza also hosted his own talk show, The Tony Danza Show, which lasted until 2006. In 2007, he took on the role of "Max Bialystock" in Broadway's The Producers.
