Tom Lasorda is a fomer major league player and manager, who spent more than 50 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Lasorda has had the longest affiliation with the Dodger organization, including Vin Scully, who joined the Dodgers a year after Lasorda.
Coaching Career
Lasorda began his managing career in the minor leagues betwen 1966-1968. He moved to the third base coaching position with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1973. Lasorda took over as the manager of the Dodgers on September 29, 1976 and managed the team until the 1966 season. During his tenure as the Dodgers manager, Lasorda compiled a 1,599-1,439 record, won two World Series and four National League pennants. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 as a manager, and his number two was retired by the Dodgers the same year.
