  • Tommy Bowden is the former head football coach of the Clemson Tigers Football team, and son of long-time Florida State University coach, Bobby Bowden.

    On October 13, 2008, it was reported that Bowden had been fired at Clemson. It was Bowden's tenth season with the Tigers football team, but after being favored to win the ACC division in the preseason, the Tigers struggled in their first six games. Bowden was the 1999 and 2003 ACC Coach of the year.

  • Brief Biography

    Son of Bobby Bowden, Tommy started his career in coaching at his alma-mater and moved on to become the head coach at Tulane University. Before getting the job at Tulane, Bowden went on to coach alongside his father at Florida State. At Tulane Bowden went 18-4, in two seasons winning the 1998 C-USA Coach of the Year. After his stint with Tulane, Bowden was offered a head coaching job with Clemson, which is where he has been for the past eight years.
  • Dismissal at Clemson

    After a 3-3 start at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season, Bowden was fired from his job at Clemson. The firing was reported on October 13, 2008. Clemson was favored to win the ACC championship at the beginning of the season, but after losing big in the season opener to Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team and then in division games to Wake Forest and Maryland, the early rumblings of his rumored dismissal became a reality.
