  • NHL Career

    Vokoun was drafted 226th overall in the 1994 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He played one additional season with the HC Kladno in the Czech Republic and joined the Wheeling Thunderbirds of the East Coast Hockey League in 1995. Vokoun made his NHL debut with the Canadiens in 1996 and was assigned to the Fredericton Canadiens in the American Hockey League for the next two years. In 1998, Vokoun was selected by the Nashville Predators in the NHL Expansion Draft. He split the next two seasons between the Predators and their IHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. Vokoun joined the full roster of the Predators in 2001 and earned the starting goaltender job in 2002. During the 2004-05 NHL Lockout, Vokoun played for the HIFK Helsinki in Finland. He continued to play for the Predators after the lockout, until a June 22, 2007, trade sent him to the Florida Panthers.
