  • Hockey Career

    Plekanec was drafted by the Canadiens during the third round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. After playing for the Czech Republic team in both the 2001 and 2002 World Junior Championships, Plekanec joined the American Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs for the 2002-2003 season. He played in two NHL games the following season and then joined the Montreal Canadiens for the 2005-2006 season, during which he earned 33 points in 73 games.

    The following season, Plekanec suited up for every Canadiens game to earn 47 points. During the 2007-2008 season, he again played in every Canadiens game, scored his first hat trick in February of 2008 and increased his point count to 78.
