  • British actor Tom Wilkinson has starred in a variety of films including The Full Monty, In the Bedroom and Batman Begins. He portrayed Benjamin Franklin in the HBO miniseries John Adams, for which he won a 2008 Emmy Award and a Golden Globe. In 2007, Wilkinson was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Michael Clayton.
  • Career Background

    After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Wilkinson spent most of his career on the stage, in films and series for British television, including an acclaimed turn as Mr. Pecksniff in the 1994 adaptation of Charles Dickens' Martin Chuzzlewit. His big break into the mainstream film industry came with the international hit comedy The Full Monty in 1997. A few years later, Wilkinson took a dramatic turn, and received his first Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance in In the Bedroom in 2001.
