Following his graduation from the University of New Mexico Law School in 1977, Udall served as a prosecutor. His focus switched to public service in the 1990s, when he became the Attorney General for the state of New Mexico. Udall served two consecutive four-year terms as Attorney General, the first to do so in New Mexico.
