    A strong opponent of illegal immigration, Tancredo was the founder and chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus. He has advocated to stop all immigration into the United States. For his views on immigration, Tancredo found himself at odds with the Bush White House. In 2004, he founded Team America a political action committee that raised money for congressional candidates who opposed illegal immigration. However, due to violations in campaign law requirements, Tancredo was forced to resign as chairman of the committee.
