  Tom Snyder abandoned plans to become a doctor when he discovered journalism in college. He got his start on Milwaukee radio and a news reporter in the early 1960s before moving to television. He worked as a news anchor before landing his own late-night talk show, Tomorrow with Tom Snyder.

  Snyder's 1973 - 1982 Tomorrow Show differed from other talk shows in that it was often as not a casual conversation between Snyder and his guest, rather than a standard question and answer session. Some stand-out guests on the show included John Lennon, Charles Manson, and the first American television appearance of the band U2.
