University of Minnesota forward Tom Pohl was seriously injured during the second period of the Gophers game against the Minnesota State University Mavericks. Pohl was elbowed in the head by Maverick Jason Wiley and fell face first into the ice. Pohl was flown to the Mayo Clinic, where he underwent surgery to stop bleeding in his brain. He was later listed in fair condition.
