  • Hockey Career

Kostopoulos was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins during the seventh round of the 1999 NHL entry draft. He joined the Penguins American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pens for the 1999-2000 season and placed third among the league's rookies in goals scored. After another full season in the AHL, during which the Pens won the Calder Cup Championship, Kostopoulos made his NHL debut, playing 11 games during the 2001-2002 season. He split the next two seasons between NHL and AHL play.

After the locked out 2004-2005 season, Kostopoulos signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings, where he was a regular on their roster, playing 76 games and earning 22 points in each of the next two seasons. During the summer of 2007, Kostopoulos, again a free agent, signed a $1.8-million, two-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
