  • Positive Drug Tests

Boonen first tested positive for cocaine in November of 2007. A second positive test was taken on May 26, 2008. Despite no official policy on cocaine, as it is not a performance-enhancing drug, he was suspended from competing in the Tour of Switzerland and the Tour de France.

The most recent trouble came in April of 2009, when trace amounts of cocaine showed in his system. Despite reports from doctors that the cocaine was not ingested, he was banned from competing at the 2009 Tour de France.http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5jt4R5Go019sDOA5go9-zDWCALPRw
