Pilots
According to Fox News, a source in Tokyo identified the pilot as Kevin Kyle Mosley (age 54, from Hillsboro, Oregon) and the co-pilot as Anthony Stephen Pino (age 49, from San Antonio, Texas). Both pilots were removed from the burning wreckage and taken to a local hospital where they were confirmed dead.Fox News: FedEx Plane Explodes ... (March 23, 2009)Causes
High winds had been reported in Tokyo at the time of the crash. The plane can be seen in surveillance video clipping the runway with its wing before landing. This caused the plane to tip sideways at high speed, and soon thereafter, it bursts into flames. Firefighters spent 30 minutes putting out the blaze after the initial explosion. It is unknown whether or not the pilots survived the initial impact.
