Todd Wellemeyer is a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball. He currently plays for the St. Louis Cardinals. Wellemeyer was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 8, 1978. He graduated from Bellarmine University which is an independent, Roman Catholic liberal-arts University in Louisville, Kentucky.
Drafts and Waivers
Wellemeyer was selected in the MLB Draft as an amateur by the Chicago Cubs in 2000. He then played for the Iowa Cubs a Triple A team, for a couple of years and traded in 2006 to the Florida Marlins only to be put on waivers. Wellemeyer was picked off waivers by the Kansas City Royals. In 2007, found himself being waivers again by the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals claimed him.
Injury
During the 2007 season Wellemeyer missed 39 games because of a right elbow sprain. Healed and back on track, the Cardinals signed Wellemeyer to a one year contract.
