Todd Purdum

Reporter Todd Purdum is a former political correspondent for The New York Times who currently serves as Vanity Fair magazine's national editor.

Purdum covered former President Bill Clinton's administration extensively for the Times. In 1997, he married former Clinton White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Meyers.

Todd Purdum's profile of Bill Clinton in the July 2008 print edition of Vanity Fair magazine paints an unflattering picture of the former president in the years since he left office. Purdum raises questions about everything from Clinton's various business associations to rumors of his keeping company with actress Gina Gershon.

The article prompted Clinton to unleash an angry tirade about Purdum to a reporter on June 2, 2008, at a campaign event for his wife, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Bill Clinton called Purdum "sleazy" and "dishonest."
