To Kill A Mockingbird was released just two years after the publication of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning first novel, and has achieved a lasting fame equal to the original. Of Gregory Peck's performance as Atticus Finch, Harper Lee said Peck was given the opportunity to play himself. Peck considered himself lucky to be cast in that film.
