TiVo is a device which allows users to record television shows and then watch them at a later time. Since TiVo was first released in March of 1999, a number of hacks have been created to allow users to enhance or change the functionality of their TiVo devices. These hacks allow users to add more storage to their TiVos and enhance their networking experiences.
Easy Hacks
In May 2007, blogger Dave Zatz published his top five beginner-level hacks. Zatz explains that by programming a TiVo remote control, a 30-second commercial skip. To do this, play back a recording on TiVo—when you reach a commercial break, hit Select, Play, Select, 3, 0 and Select. Another hack described by Zatz involves expanding the storage on your TiVo device by upgrading an internal hard drive. Zatz also details how to transfer video from a home computer onto a TiVo box. Directions are provided for both PC and Mac users.
