TMZ.com reported on March 10, 2009, that Davis was the one who sent Brown the infamous three page text message on February 8, 2009, asking Brown if he wanted to hook up later. His girlfriend Rihanna was said to have found the text message resulting in Brown allegedly assaulting her. Davis, through her lawyer, denied that she wrote a suggestive text to Brown and stated that their relationship is strictly that of a manager and her client. TMZ.com reported on March 5, 2009, that according to police notes, the alleged assault by Chris Brown on February 8th started when Rihanna read a three-page text message that Brown received on his cell phone from another woman. Brown was said to have become angry with Rihanna for grabbing his phone and reading the text and reportedly tried to force her out of his car. He was also said to have shoved her head into the passenger's side window, punched her, bit her on the ear and put her in a headlock.
