  • Tim Sylvia is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter, holding five heavyweight titles for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Three of his title bouts have been first-round knockouts. According to Sylvia's official bio, he grew up in Eastbrook, Maine, and his mother was an alcoholic. Prior to becoming an MMA fighter, he worked in construction and house painting. In his first professional fight, he left his opponent unconscious after 17 seconds in the ring. He moved to Iowa in the year 2000 to fight in the UFC.

    On March 26, 2008, Sylvia wrote in his blog that he would be making "big announcements about my career" at noon, Friday, March 28. It was subsequently reported that he could announce his departure from the UFC in which he did on March 29, 2008, and signing a two year contract with Adrenaline MMA, formerly M-1 Global.
