Tim Hortons is a Canadian coffee and donut shop that was named for its founder, hockey player Tim Horton. Two of the original doughnut choices were the Apple Fritter and the Dutchie. Tim Hortons continues to hold a huge percentage of fast foot market share in Canada, with twice as many outlets as McDonald's. With its expansion, it replaced virtually all independent Canadian doughnut shops.
On March 5, 2010, the Financial Post reported that Tim Hortons would be opening 900 new restaurants between 2010 and 2013. 300 or more of these new restaurants will mainly be opened in the states that border Canada such as New York, Michigan and Ohio. During the next six months 10 United States locations will be renovated with new furniture and lighting. http://www.financialpost.com/news-sectors/story.html?id=2645021
