Tilda Swinton is an Oscar and BAFTA Award winning British who got her start in the 1980s after studying with the Traverse Theater and Royal Shakespeare Company. In 1989, Swinton appeared opposite Sir Laurence Olivier in the film War Requiem. In 1991 she starred as the title character in Orlando, and also won critical praise for her role in Edward II.
In 2001, Swinton starred in The Deep End (a remake of the 1949 Film Noir The Reckless Moment) alongside Goran Visnijc. That same year, she appeared in the Cameron Crowe film Vanilla Sky alongside Tom Cruise. In 2002 Swinton played "Valerie Thomas", Charlie Kaufman's agent, in Adaptation.
In 2005, Swinton achieved mainstream recognition after appearing as the "White Witch" in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. In 2008, she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as "Karen Crowder" in Michael Clayton.
