  • Professional golfer Tiger Woods was injured in a mystery-shrouded car accident near his home the morning of November 27, 2009. Initial reports were that Woods was seriously injured, but a spokesperson for Woods later stated that he had been released from the hospital and in good condition.     Woods was then transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida in serious condition. However, by 2:30 p.m., the hospital said he was not a patient, but would not say if he had been treated and released. According to the mayor of Windermere, Florida, Woods was treated for facial lacerations and released by the hospital.     FHP said that the airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, thus the vehicle must have been traveling under 33 mph. FHP did not report the accident to the media until after 2 p.m. the day of the accident and said that the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.     But on November 28, TMZ reported that Nordegren was the cause of the lacerations on Woods' face, after confronting him about rumors that he was having an affair.     Woods canceled meeting with state troopers for the third time on Sunday, November 29, 2009. That day, Woods posted a statement on his web site saying the accident was solely his fault. "This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me," said Woods. "I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again."     On December 1, 2009, Woods received a traffic citation for careless driving. The citation will cost him $164 and four points on his Florida driver's license.
