Tie Me Up Tie Me Down is a 1990 Spanish dark comedy. Antonio Banderas stars as Ricky, an escaped mental patient determined to make Marina (Victoria Abril), a porn actress he once spent the night with, fall in love with him. Ricky tracks down Marina and holds her captive until she experiences Stockholm Syndrome, developing feelings for her captor. The film by Pedro Almodovar caused public outcry and received an NC-17 rating for its subject matter and explicit sex scenes. Plot Synopsis
Ricky (Antonio Banderas) is an escaped mental patient who is obsessed with the former porn star, Marina (Victoria Abril), with whom he had once spent the night. Ricky tracks down Marina and handcuffs her to a bed in a deranged attempt to make her love him. Marina, struggling with her drug addiction, fights off Ricky's efforts until succumbing to Stockholm Syndrome. Meanwhile, Máximo (Francisco Rabal), an aging director who made Marina's last movie, also finds himself obsessed with the actress. Marina's sister, Lola (Loles Leó) becomes worried by Marina's absence, concerned that she has relapsed into drugs, and tracks Marina down.
